Jere J. Ruff and John Nay Thomas Scholarship

Jere J. Ruff and John Nay Thomas Scholarship was established to be used for the benefit of the Longview University Center. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to provide scholarships for students who attend college at the Longview University Center. Mr. Ruff was a prominent local businessman whos served on The University of Texas at Tyler Development Board and was instrumental in establishing the Longview University Center. He served on its Development Council for many years. The Thomas family has also provided long-term support for the Longview University Center, with Mr. Thomas’ sister, Barbara Thomas Pool, leading its Development Council and also serving on the UT Tyler Development Board. Friendship motivated the Ruff and Thomas families to combine their efforts and name a scholarship in memory of these two gentlemen.
